What is Key Club?
Key Club is a service organization sponsored by the Storm Lake Kiwanis Beavers and Kiwanis International. We strive to develop student leadership through community service. Past volunteer opportunities include Upper Des Moines, TLC Animal Shelter, Santa's Castle, Adopt-A-Highway, early out Adventure Clubs and Trick or Treat for UNICEF.
Key Club welcomes all students from grades 9-12. If you have any questions please contact our school's Key Club advisor. Key Club is an international high school organization with more that 125,000 members dedicated to service and sponsored around the world by Kiwanis International, a community service organization for professional men and women. Because of the close relationship between the two organizations, Key Clubbers and Kiwanis members often enjoy close fellowship while cooperating on projects that benefit their communities as well as themselves.
"Through Key Club, we're able to really contribute to the development of our communities, and at the same time, develop lasting friendships," explained one Key Clubber. "But most important we work together."
Objectives of Key Club:
- To develop initiative and leadership
- To provide experience in living and working together
- To serve the school community
- To cooperate with the school
- To prepare for useful citizenship
- To accept and promote the following ideals:
- To live primacy to the human and spiritual, rather than to the material, values of life
- To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships
- To promote the adoption and application of higher standards in scholarship, sportsmanship, and social contacts
- To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable citizenship
- To provide a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render unselfish service, and to build better communities
- To cooperate in creating and maintain that sound public opinion and high idealism which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, and good will.
